Fundraising for Autism Support

On the 30th November 2018 my 13 year old son Thomas went shopping in town for the first time with his friend and his birthday money. He bought himself a denim jacket and also some birthday presents. When Thomas had finished shopping he placed his bag down and text me asking for me to pick him and his friend up from town. Unfortunately when Thomas looked back down his bag with all his presents and his new jacket had been taken. He is heartbroken.
I shared the story to facebook with some hope that he would be reunited with his bag and have been inundated with lots of wonderful and generous offers. I have given Thomas the money back and showed Thomas all the lovely messages and comments I had received. Thomas thought it would be a nice idea for people to help by donating money to the local autism group.
Understanding Uniqueness Autism Support.
Based in Warwick and started by Marie Austin.
The group supports families far and wide on facebook, they run a birthday card club so that every child in the group will receive a birthday card on his or her birthday. Thomas received one on his 13th birthday and was delighted. Especially with the confetti they had put in it.
Locally they cover Warwick, Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Southam and surrounding villages.
The group uses donations for days out / the annual Christmas party which I believe is being held after Christmas this year so the children wont have so many things going on.
They gift books, selection boxes and also party bags to the children on these events.
They also purchase ear defenders for children to borrow and weighted blankets.
Currently they are arranging the meet up dates for 2019.
Any money raised will cover costs of meetups for the children and the gifts.
Also more ear defenders and weighted blankets so they can help support more children in the local area.
