Build it and they will come

Following our daughters Ava’s autism diagnoses in 2015, we found there was little support for parents or children requiring early intervention.  Since then we have established Avalon, a charity that will provide parental support and respite services to families caring for children with autism.  The charity is named after Ava as she has been the main source of inspiration to turn our own difficult and painful experiences into an opportunity to help others.  By providing this kind of support that we hope Avalon can be the brightest light shining for people in their darkest days.

Fundraising Target 2018  -  £15k

We have selected a number of challenging events with a strong fitness connection, as improving the health and well-being of families caring for someone with Autism is a major objective for the charity.

Edinburgh Marathon

Pam has already taken part in the Edinburgh Half Marathon on Sunday 27th May exploring some of Edinburgh's most iconic landmarks.  This was part of her training plan and was a great fitness test for the full marathon in July 18.  Pam did complete the course in 2 hours 30 minutes.  This was a major achievement given the ongoing knee injury she has been managing.  If you haven’t sponsored her for this you can now!

Fort William Marathon

On 29th July 2018, Pam and William have signed up for the ultimate challenge.  Set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, the Fort William Marathon will take them both on a journey through some of the area’s most stunning scenery in Scotland.  This will require much harder training due to all the hills and rough terrain.

Reach your Peaks – Challenge Reality

The pinnacle of 2018 will be for Pam to part in a unique journey of self-discovery and personal growth with the Reach your Peaks ultimate endurance event.  To climb the Five Scottish peaks in 24 hours!  This event has been hand crafted by my Coach Stevie Kidd who recently completed the Everest trek/Marathon.  This will be the ultimate test of self-belief, character and fitness and I look forward to who I will become in the process.

How can you help?

Any support you can provide through donations will go directly towards delivering the following services;

- Access and funding towards early intervention for autistic children
- Access to appropriate respite services for parents and families of individuals diagnosed with autism to increase their health and well being

We aspire to be able to help as many families as possible affected by autism by focusing on delivering these two priorities throughout 2018-2019.  Your help and donations will make all the difference – Thank you!
