What is The CLUB?
The CLUB is a unique space that is exclusively for local teens (ages 13 to 17) to hang out at and have fun! This space would be a secondary location for the Boys & Girls Club of Cochrane & Area (BGCCA) to operate teen programming. The vision is to provide a space where all teens can be themselves, have fun, experience new opportunities, build relationships and develop skills for life. The space will feature the same great programming that the BGCCA currently offers. However, with a new space comes new opportunities.
The CLUB will feature the following additions:
- Teen Chefs, a program that teaches life-long kitchen skills and food literacy
- Teen Trips, teens can to go on supervised summer day trips to Calgary, Canmore, Bragg Creek and more!
- A new hang out space featuring a pool table, Virtual Reality, Netflix, and video games
- A fully stocked coffee bar with comfy booths to kick back on
- Music and Club/DJ nights
- LGBTQ+ programming and support
- Youth Outreach
- Space for studying, tutoring and technology access
- A fully supplied art corner and fun activities such as paint night
- Resources for career and education planning, mental health and addiction, as well as suicide intervention
- Fun and highly trained Youth Workers
- And much more!
Why do we need The CLUB and what does your support mean to the community?
According to Cochrane Cares, a regional well-being survey, teens in Cochrane feel that there is not much for them to do or support for them within their community. We want to change that. The goal of the new space is provide a platform for local youth to build a community for themselves and have second home full of life-long friends. It is also important to have a space like this as many Cochrane youth face issues such as mental health, loneliness, peer violence and bullying, as well as a lack of extracurricular opportunities. Through our unique and affordable programming the BGCCA can offer support to reduce these issues and keep Cochrane and area youth happy and successful!
Your support would help us not only create this space but bring new programming to The CLUB for the summer of 2018. Donor support is essential to maintianing services at the lowest cost possible so that all youth have the opportunity to participate! Most importantly, your support will help us reach more youth in the community. We have built a community for youth that we are so proud of and want you to be a part of it too!
