Eye Africa TV is the first global Online TV channel based in The Gambia. It is set up with the motive of selling the Gambia to the outside world and portraying the good image of Africa and its transformation.
With its broadcasting center in Banjul, and supporting team of young news professionals worldwide, the channel strives to also provide independent, accurate, balance, educative and entertaining stories unfolding around the globe and Africa in particular.
It's large viewer/fan-base within and outside of Africa, prioritizes Eye Africa TV in giving voice to the voiceless, telling the untold stories, promoting dialogue and creating an open society through programming.
Eye Africa is a household name in The Gambia for been in the forefront of providing alternative news in the country during the countries toughest times. During the time of dictatorship when Gambians, especially in the diaspora had very limited access to accurate information on the ground, Eye Africa provided them with information. Eye Africa risked closure by giving a platform to opposition parties to put their messages across during the presidential campaign and election because they were not given any access to state broadcasters. Thereby playing its part in sparking public participation in last year’s historic presidential election which ended the 22-years of Jammeh’s rule.
As a key player in the new Gambia’s democratization process, Eye Africa are even more committed now than ever to providing accurate and objective news and analyses whilst citizens go back to the polls to elect their parliamentary representatives in April.
