Bringing Smiles to PCMS

My son, Aden, who is eleven-years-old, hasn't always been the most popular with his peers. When he was five, he was diagnosed with high-functioning autism, which made it hard for him to make friends. Aden has always been very empathetic, which isn't very common with people who have autism. He started 6th grade this year. New to middle school and fearing rejection, he noticed all the kids were afraid.
He has always had a soft spot for the girls because he has seen the boys be mean to a lot of them. He came home the second week of school and asked if I could help him get the money to buy all the girls in school a candy gram (Hershey bar with a heart card) for Valentine’s Day. I asked him why, and he said to me the sweetest thing I've ever heard, "Because it makes me sad to see all these girls getting them from boys who like them, but then there are those girls that feel like nobody is thinking about them because they didn't get a candy gram." *swoon* My heart melted. That's my son though: Always thinking about how other people are feeling.
I decided I'd give it a shot. There are roughly 500+ children in the middle school. (It's a small school.) I can't get a head count on just the girls, but I'm sure there are at least 250-300 girls. Each candy gram is $1.00. If I could raise $300, we could all help my son reach his goal of making all these girls feel special on Valentine’s Day. After all, being a teenager is tough, and being a teen in today's "beauty standards" age is really hard. Help my son make their day this Valentine's Day.
*If we do have money left over, I'll donate it to a program at the school. It's the best possible thing I can think of.
