#FreeMariaLuna is a campaign to free Maria Luna from ICE detention. We want to keep her home with her family! Help us stop her deportation and get her out of ICE!
Maria was born in the Philippines and immigrated (permanent residents) to the U.S. at 3 yrs old with her family. She was raised in San Francisco and overcame the struggles that come with being a teenager by engaging in unhealthy activities. She ended up conspiring in a crime with peers that led to her incarceration.
She was sentenced as a youth and served 22 years on a life sentence after being found suitable by the Board of Parole Hearings. Governor Brown approved her release only to release her to ICE detention where she faces deportation to the Philippines.
While in prison Maria became a certified CA state drug and alcohol counselor. She was working as a peer mentor during her incarceration and has helped endless incarcerated women. Even while in ICE detention, Maria still finds ways to support incarcerated women and never shies away from serving her community.
Her parents, daughter, and a brother are all U.S. citizens. Currently her family lives in Oroville near San Francisco. We want to keep Maria in the community. We want her here with her family. Please help contribute to her freedom. Please donate to her bond fund.
If Maria Luna is not granted bond, the money raised from this campaign will go to help her resettle to the Philippines if she is to be deported.
