Free Vegan Ice Cream Cone Day #2

B & J’s Free Cone Day is coming up soon.
Last year we did our own free cone day - to do a little activism, create a big pay it forward opportunity and have a little fun. Many asked if we were gonna do it again this year and we didn’t know if it should be a one and done or bring it back. After reflecting back on that day we realized what a success it was…
We passed out 685 free cones!
This was the first “vegan” experience for a significant number of attendees.
This was a positive non confrontational “vegan” experience for all.
We changed a few minds and hearts and created lots of smiles.
Delicious activism!
So…. let’s do it again…
Last year we did a GoFundMe campaign to fund the day. We raised $800 in just 4 days. We’ve been a bit torn about whether or not to do crowdfunding. Ultimately, we’re still one small (but growing) shop and we’ve had so many people tell us that they want to help out again - so why not?
If you think this event is worthwhile, please consider a small contribution to the cause. No amount is too small - it all adds up.
Following is pretty much an exact duplicate of last years campaign.
Like No Udder is more than just a business to us, Providence and the RI vegan community - many consider our little shop and truck to be a means of activism and a hub for both local vegan information and community building.
Our efforts have brought people together, lessened animal suffering and supported the physical and mental health of many vegan and dairy free people from near and far.
So… inspired by frequent instances of our customers wanting to “pay it forward” we thought we’d reach out to our community to help us subsidize our own FREE CONE DAY on Tuesday, April 10th - the same day as the big guys.
Our view is that a FREE CONE DAY will get people to experience the wonders of non-dairy ice-cream - especially those reluctant to stop in and buy a cone on their own.
We’re simply looking to mitigate our costs so we aren’t asking for too much. We’d love to raise $800.00 - which will allow us to pass out about 700 cones (accounting for fees and income taxes.) We’ve chosen GoFundMe so we don’t have to worry about hitting minimums - allowing us to adjust the number of free cones we give out based on what we raise. If we raise way more than $800 - we’ll do another Free Cone event - either at the shop (perhaps on the shop’s birthday) or on the the truck.
We’ll also have donation jars out to support a few animal/vegan friendly causes.
