Free Haven Farms Campaign for Donated Shares

Free Haven Farm's philosophy is that health is wealth. This philosophy is rooted in the unhealthy state that our communities are currently in. Many people are aware of the phrase "you are what you eat"; but to see it play out through common diseases in our community that shorten life expectancies like cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, just to name a few. We have dedicated ourselves to serving the urban communities with access to healthy produce as well as access to information about healthy lifestyle choices for the last 10 years. We do this through growing produce in an organic and sustainable way, bringing it to the community by way of pop-up farmer's markets and food stands. Last year we introduced a CSA weekly food box delivery system to residents of South Jersey and Philadelphia. We brought farmers markets to the hood because there was a lack of access to fresh food and this affected health outcomes and statistics in those same communities. We started this delivery system because we realized that people were unable to make it to our weekly farmers markets. We are of the very few black farmers and educators that have lived in the urban communities and have a deeper connection to the needs of our communities than some of the groups that serve yet, are not of these communities. Single-parent households dominate our urban communities and the struggle is real. Although we offer inexpensive prices to our subscription of these weekly food boxes, the cost is still out of reach for many families. What we are doing this season is to raise money in order to donate yearly subscriptions to single-parent families who are interested in receiving a weekly box of fresh, local fruits and vegetables delivered to their door.

We're asking for your help in raising funds to support these donated subscriptions for families in need. Our goal is to be able to offer at least 20 donated subscriptions in the 2019 season to families in the Philadelphia/South Jersey region.
