Few things make us happier than seeing equal inclusion of all people. We need your help to make this a reality: Newbridge Place is in need of a modified passenger van for resident transportation. Newbridge has found that the Toyota Sienna minivan has the best mobility solutions that will meet our need. We are currently working with a local dealer who does Auto Access Seat modifications, or can assist in arranging for factory installation. The cost is $55,000.
Let me tell you a bit about the good that Newbridge Place brings to the world.
Started in 1998, Newbridge Place received their tax-exempt status in 2007. We are a non-profit with extensive experience, compassionately promoting improved mental, physical and social well being to persons with severe mental illness or traumatic brain injury. We offer furnished, private rooms, 24-hour supervision, three meals a day, transportation to appointments, as well as leisure activities and special events. Over the years, we have received grants for building renovation, upkeep, previous vehicles, resident activities, and operating expenses.
Here is where you come in - residents have various levels of mobility, including fully independently mobile, persons who use walkers, and those who are wheelchair-dependent. In order to transport wheelchair-dependent persons to medical appointments or for inclusion on facility-wide entertainment activities, we need a van that can safely support wheelchair transportation. The modified Toyota Sienna minivan has the needed wheelchair access. We cannot purchase this $55,000 vehicle without an incredible amount of donor support.
We received generous donations from the 100+ Women Who Care Medina www.100womenwhocaremedina.com, and the Medina County Community Fund www.akroncf.org, but we still have a very long way to go to meet our goal...
