Aberdeen has been suffering from an economic downturn for over two years now, leaving countless of our fellow Aberdonians struggling to make ends meet each month.
The number of food bank users have doubled from 2014 to 2015 and with the situation still not balancing out it is feared that this will soar in 2016 and 2017.
We at the AberdeenMuslims Team could not stand and watch our fellow Aberdonians go hungry, and so we came up with an idea...why not give something that will not only satisfy hunger, but tickle the taste buds and give comfort and warmth to struggling families...and so FoodBox was born.
Our motto? "No one should go hungry!"
Our project Manager Maaruf Razzak explains: "Foodbox is more than just providing for the homeless, it is about providing food for anyone that does not have dinner on their table.
We welcome people from all faiths and backgrounds to come and see us. Food brings people together; we want to give our fellow Aberdonians that are facing hardship not just a filling meal, but a tasty one."
FoodBox is not bound to any religion or ideology…well maybe the ideology of giving! This service is for all those that require it and volunteers from all walks of life are welcome to join our ever expanding team.
We provide a freshly cooked hot meal, a dessert and a drink for all those that are facing hardship, and our first stall saw over 40 food bags being handed out. We have received excellent media coverage for the project and expect the users to double as people become more aware:

To ensure that we can not only continue but expand this project we need your help.
Currently the FoodBox stall is held once a month at the last Wednesday, however we would love to double this frequency to once a fortnight.
Please give what you can. As this initiative is ran by volunteers 100% of the donations we receive will be used to the project, and your money will go to:
- Purchasing the ingredients for the meals
- Preparing and cooking the meals
- Purchasing food cartons and bags
- Advertising the initiative to ensure maximum coverage
- Stall requirements: Waterproof Gazebos, Tables, Weights etc
Please donate today to help your fellow Aberdonians at their time of need, and one day when the economy bounces back up and we don't have to hold these stall anymore, they will remember that you were there for them when they needed you the most.
