Eagle Project- Shouth Shades Crest

I am Alex Loukotka and my project will re-build and enhance an outdoor classroom in the woods behind South Shades Crest Elementary School. As a replacement to the old splintered wood I will install composite decking for longevity. To make it a better classroom I will add informational aluminum signs with QR codes. The trails and immediate areas will be cleaned of litter and cleared of obstacles, mainly fallen trees and old fences that were not properly removed. Trail maintenance will also take place in order to create a safer and more pronounced path for the children and runners using the path. In order to make the trail more pronounced mulch will be strategically placed. After the area is suitable for use, informational signs will be posted on the hand rails. The signs will allow children, teachers and other visitors to scan a QR code and be presented with information about local plants and animals. Posting the signs will make the teacher's job easier and allow the teacher to incorporate technology into their lessons. My project will also make the area into a small usable park for community members.
