SUPPORT MILEAD TO LEAD CHANGE

Donation protected
Moremi Initative was founded in 2004 with a strong belief that the full and active participation of women in leadership is a pre-requisite for positive change and development in Africa. We invite you to invest in this bold and transformational agenda. Help us sustain the dream!

With a track record that has engaged, equipped and inspired a dynamic Pan African network of over 200 outstanding emerging African women leaders,
[from 44 countries across Africa and the Diaspora] Moremi Initiative is building a vibrant movement of leaders who are facilitating transformative change in their communities and our continent.

Today, the MILEAD Fellows Program is the most competitive and one of the most impactful leadership programs on the continent.  Commitment to service is a requirement for being selected as a fellow. Since 2009, over 100 community change (MiChange) projects have been launched in the countries represented by fellows, impacting thousands of lives. In developing the “Whole Leader” the MILEAD program has been uniquely designed to support the long-term development of selected Fellows.

Collaborative partnerships are at the heart of our strategy and approach. At Moremi we do not believe in duplicating efforts, as such we are keen on collective action and your partnership.

Our distinguished speakers, trainers and resources persons come from diverse backgrounds in public and private sectors, academia and civil society. These include Mrs. Mary Robinson—former President of Ireland and United Nations Human Rights Commissioner, Presidents John Kufour and Jerry Rawlings of Ghana, Dr. Joyce Aryee- Former CEO of Ghana Chamber of Mines and current Board Chair of Moremi Initiative; Hon. Betty Mould Iddridu- Ghana's first female Attorney general and Minister of Justice, Hon. Nana Oye Lithur- Minister for Gender, Women and Social Protection, Mr. Mawuli Dake of Africa Group Consult, Hon. Samia Nkrumah- Chair of Convention People Party, Nobel Peace Laureate Ms. Leymah Gbowee; and Mr. Herman Chinery-Hesse of SofTribe among other world class leaders.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Participants in the program benefit from a combination of training and mentoring crafted to build skills,  knowledge and values, as well as strengthen networks, and support women’s leadership on critical issues. Other functions of the program include linking determined young women with influential and seasoned African women leaders who are committed to inspiring and empowering the next generation. Most importantly, Fellows benefit from a lifelong solidarity and support through the MILEAD Network. The MILEAD Institute affords Fellows the opportunity to learn and understand fundamental leadership concepts and build strong rapport with other Fellows. Furthermore, Fellows cross-examine concepts of leadership in a broad African context, cultivate the skills and experiences necessary to occupy and excel in leadership positions, and gain knowledge on cutting-edge issues critical to African women and their communities. Through these programs Fellows are able to deepen their knowledge and sharpen their skills for bold, visionary and effective leadership.

OUTCOMES

Through these programs and activities, Moremi Initiative seeks to:

INVEST:  in equipping young African women and girls with the knowledge, resources and networks that enable them to participate in the socio-economic transformation of the continent.

PROMOTE: the achievements of women and girls through advocacy and dissemination of information about the accomplishments of Fellows.

SUPPORT: women and girls’ solidarity and partnerships through mentoring and role modelling programs.

TRANSFORM: Society through Fellows by developing and executing deliberate and systematic leadership development and empowerment strategies that serve as models for the development of future African women leaders.

Specifically, we pursue the following outcomes:

1.     Increase access to quality, value-based and holistic education.

2.     Enhance critical decision-making skills, build self-confidence  and self-esteem.

3.     Explore the concept of active global citizenship through MiCHANGE projects.

4.     Examine the role of women in Government and politics.

5.     Improve teambuilding through hands-on experiences, innovative workshops and activities.

6.     Establish a mentoring relationship with influential women in various fields.

7.     Foster better understanding of African women’s history and contemporary women’s issues.

8.     Encourage a strong commitment to gender equity and elimination of gender-based violence.

We hope you recognize, as we do, the valuable role your investment can play  in laying a strong foundation for the advancement of African women’s leadership and rights.  We thank you for your support and partnership!
