Local Firefighter Denied Treatment

Kirk Langvardt was diagnosed with having Hepatitis C, he discovered this while attempting to donate blood for Red Cross. His doctor gave him some great news stating that there is a cure! That great news was quickly turned into a nightmare when his insurance denied the prescription due to the lack of severity of his case. 2 appeals later he's finding out that unless he develops cancer his insurance doesn't feel he's a candidate for the cure.... Why does someone need to be told you're not sick enough to be healed?  Kirk could be cured in twelve weeks with the prescription ordered by the doctor. The doctors have done everything they can to fight Kirks insurance company. Kirks liver has began to weaken and he has developed fibrosis. Insurance won't kick in until he has been diagnosed with Cancer. Until then Kirks condition isn't worth the $94,500 cure in the big scheme of insurance. Kirk volunteers as 1st Assistance Chief on the Truman Fire Department, ownes Aardvarks Bar & Grill with his son, and works full time as plant manager at Prairieland Waste Facility where it is believed that he contracted the disease by being poked by many random foreign objects. When Kirk has down time he is helping everyone he knows and playing with his 8 grandchildren. Kirk is always there for anyone to give them a hand. It's our turn to help him.
