On October 9, 2017 our home in the Coffey Park neighborhood in Santa Rosa, CA was destroyed in the devastating Tubbs fire.  We evacuated at 2:00 am and left with nothing.  Our house and our entire neighbor hood was destroyed.   There is nothing left of our home. We are safe with family but will need to rebuild our lives.

I grew up in Petaluma, CA and have been an elementary school teacher for almost 20 years in Santa Rosa.  Sonoma County has been my home for most of my life. We are active in our school and church communities and our hearts are broken that this tragedy is happening in our beautiful county.

Gracie is 8 years old and in 3rd grade.  She loves to swim, draw and sing.  She is usually the one doing small acts of compasion for others, but now must learn to accept those gifts from others.

I have decided to set up a Go Fund Me because I have many friends with relatives outside of the area telling family and friends that they want to help.  Any money raised here would be used to replace needed household items such as beds, bedding, towels, clothing, dishes, pots and pans, furniture and books and toys.

Anything you can give would be accepted with heartfelt gratitude and thanksgiving.  We are deeply moved by your generosity.

"Home is where the heart is." Never in my life have I understood that better than in the last 6 months. The "stuff" just make the house comfortable and livable. Inhabiting the house makes it home. Laughing, daily routines, crying, sleeping, preparing and sharing meals, fighting, forgiving, hugging. That's a home. I want thank you for your incredibly generous gifts. There was no way for me to keep up and give an individual thank you to everyone. Please know that your generosity will be paid forward by my daughter and I for the rest of our lives. Remember there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for and staying in gratitude makes every difficult thing manageable. Below is a picture of our new, cozy apartment.

Thank you again yo all those be at and far who are supporting Gracie and I. I am truly humbled by the gifts, love and prayers. We are in a new apartment and learning how to make it home. I was taught as a child to write personal thank you notes for gifts...always. Therefore it is hard for me to think that might not happen this time. My heartfelt thanks to everyone.
