The Fight to Keep my Husband

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

This fundraiser is in hopes of raising funds for legal fees to keep my sweet British husband, Patrick Wells, with me after receiving a Notice of Intent to Deny from the USCIS on June 11 of 2018.

A little less than one year ago, my incredible and faithful man came to the United States to meet my family, my friends, and catch of glimpse of the beautiful place I call Home. We discovered that together, even the littlest grocery store shopping endeavors became an adventure, and in September of 2017 we became engaged. We married in November, and began to furiously work on an Adjustment of Status application so that we would not have to be parted. The application and process was incredibly expensive, costing an upwards of thousands of dollars. However, there is no price tag on a marriage, and we were willing to do whatever it took to stay together. Given that my family, my education, my photography business, and my support network was all here, we decided that the beautiful place of Nebraska was where we wanted to call home.

Given Patrick's immigration status, he was--and still is--unable to legally work, so I have been single-handedly supporting the both of us while working full-time, attending university as a full-time Political Science student, and attempting to foot the costs of immigration. After suffering two devastating miscarriages in the past six months, however, I have now also managed to add medical bills to that list. I had full confidence that Patrick's immigration would be granted, though, and figured that once he got his work authorization, our finances would stabilize.

After months of stress, prayers, and tears, we received a Notice of Intent to Deny from immigration, and we have less than 24 days (as of June 14, 2018) to fight this battle. If the petition is denied, Patrick and I will be immediately leaving the U.S. and headed to Dublin, Ireland, where we will apply for immigration there, once again going through a rigorous, lengthy, and expense process. However, we would both love to stay in Nebraska as the cornfields are our home. We both have family, friends, and dearly loved ones in the U.S., and if the petition is denied, we will not be returning.

The money donated to this fundraiser will directly go to any costs regarding immigration, including the form to appeal (which sits right under $1k alone), legal fees, and so on.

Anything helps, and even if you cannot donate, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

"Do not urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me." Ruth 1:16-17
