BACK TO SCHOOL FOR INNER CITY KIDS

Every year, many less fortunate children in our communities return to school without proper school supplies; from the lack of binders and backpacks, to USB drives and other necessary items. Ballooning back-to-school supply lists are pinching poor families’ budgets, and the psychological affects from a child not having the basic necessities can weigh heavily on their academic success. During this tough time of economic hardship, many parents are finding it very difficult to purchase all of the supplies their children need for class. 

To address this challenge, we are reaching out to organizations like yours for assistance.  You can help by providing school supplies, book bags, gift cards, or a monetary donation for us to purchase the supplies.  No donation is too small.  Every gift will be greatly appreciated!  We are happy to pick up any items.

Each year we sponsor a back-to-school celebration for our children in the West Haven Community and throughout Chicago.  This year’s event will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2016 and we’re expecting to service over [phone redacted] kids and families. In 2015 we were able to give free school supplies and lunch to over 300 children and families in need. We were able to give away over 300 book bags, but we ran out and had to turn some in need away. This year we hope to have 500 book bags to give away and hopefully not have to turn any children away.

I know you will agree, that education is vitally important for our kids and as we collectively stand together we can make a huge difference in the lives of many young people for this upcoming school year.
