Fairfax County Board of Supervisors passed egregious regulations governing Short Term Rentals on July 31, 2018.  Far overstepping what they were instructed to do by the General Assembly they have actually removed property rights.  We are raising funds for the Class Action Lawsuit against Fairfax County to reverse the regulations and restore our property rights to rent our homes as the state law permits, unrestricted 365 days no matter the duration.

We represent and protect the property rights of 1.5 million residents of Fairfax County, and this also extends to any one in the state of Virginia and even hosts around the country.  Fairfax County is one of the largest counties in the nation and all hosting platforms are watching us to see what happens.  We know our rights, and we know that they have taken them.  Please donate to protect the rights of homeowners to use their property as they see fit, and help us demonstrate that Fairfax County Board of Supervisors do not get to do whatever they please.  It is our right to rent our homes on platforms like AirBnB and VRBO as we see fit, and they do not get to remove those rights or otherwise restrict them.

We are a non profit, tax exempt organization  501-3-C-4

We would indeed be very grateful for any donations to help us protect our rights that Fairfax County is trying to remove.  Your contribution will assist in restoring rights of widows, elderly, women, children and families making ends meet and paying for critical expenses like medical treatments and other bills.  We know everyone around the country is watching what Fairfax County is doing, and us too.  Citizens 4 STR is dedicated to protecting our rights in Fairfax County and this is going to be a case that impacts the rest of the country, so helping us win helps many!

All donations go to our legal counsel to fund the lawsuit that has been filed against the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County challenging the County’s new law.

Thank you for your support!

One of our members recently had a huge victory that will be very important going forward. Blake Ratcliff won his court case against Fairfax County. He was the first person to be given a citation and has been in the trenches fighting for over two years as the process drags on at great personal expense.

We have always maintained that Short Term Rentals have NEVER been illegal because that is what the laws both state and local stated.

The Judge agreed!!!!

However we still have our court case to fund and to fight we need to pay our amazing attorney. Please donate today and generously to help us continue to fight!

We have had a rollercoaster of events the past several months. We were successful in introducing a Bill to try to regain some of our rights, but it was a terrible compromise as at its best it would have only allowed us 180 days. SB1701 passed the Senate but it was passed by indefinitely in the House committee. It was bittersweet as we were fighting so hard for so little. However we made many connections with many people who supported us and want to work with us again on another bill in the next session.

This fall the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is all up for re election and at least half of them are leaving which means we now have the opportunity to work with several new candidates. We must work now to speak to them before they are elected to learn their position and educate them on the issues surrounding Short Term Rentals. It is imperative that everyone VOTE and vote for someone that we know supports our issues.

LEGAL UPDATES-we have two members of our organization that have had their court dates but no final results yet. Our group lawsuit date is coming up in September and our most pressing need is to fund our lawsuit. We are up against some deep pockets of Fairfax County and its absolutely outrageous that we even have to do this, but we definitely do.

We want for everyone that works hard to supplement their income using Short Term Rentals is able to exercise this right to the fullest. Fairfax County is a leader in policies throughout the entire country. It is absolutely essential that everyone who is interested in preserving your rights to be able to rent donate NOW and donate generously. You should be able to donate 10% of your annual income from your short term rental to this cause.

That may sound like a lot, but you are investing in your own earning potential, or business and fighting to protect your rights is a very worthy cause. We need to keep this fight alive and kicking. Please donate today and consider making your donation a monthly donation to support our efforts to preserve your rights!!!
