A Festivus App for the Rest of Us!
As a fun and creative fundraising project for mental health organizations (no, not the Human Fund) in WNY, I am developing a Festivus cell phone and tablet app which is one of my first programming projects after being ill for a long period of time.
One of the main features of the program is a Speak Thy Gripe which allows you to complain to the app using Google Speech recognition.
You can download our latest version here
I will be adding more material to it including a Festivus animations, holiday themed art slideshows, karaoke carols and maybe even some simple games.
Right now it is only available for Android devices, but with enough funding I could try developing something for iOS and other platforms.
Initially I would use the gofundme money raised to hire beta testers to help me find bugs, musicians to add carols, artists to make graphics and also use money to promote the app so that the profits from app can be donated to local Western New York nonprofits who help people with various neurological/mental conditions.
Right now our goal for 2015 is to donate the approximately $0.60 profit we make from each download on Google Play to a local charity for autism. We intend to come out with a new edition each year, which will benefit other mental health organizatons in WNY too.
Hope enjoy our app and have a Happy Festivus!
