Johnny Robert Kent was born Mon, 4/29/19 at 8:08am at 7 lbs 6 oz and 19 ¾ inches. Johnny was born with Down syndrome which means that he will likely grow up and experience some challenges that not everyone does, and in turn, will likely result in a different type of journey for his parents. Johnny is blessed to have two of the best parents in the world, who love him and care for him so much, but we know that this will be a difficult road for Johnny, Kate, and Ross. Kate and Ross cannot know yet what will come both emotionally and financially, so we would like to set up this GoFundMe account to help take some of the burden off of them for unexpected costs during this overwhelming time.
Johnny is currently in the NICU (level 2/4) at Woodwinds hospital in Woodbury, MN. At this point, he needs support mastering his basic skills like breathing and swallowing before he can come home. Much of this is related to low muscle tone and which leads to exhaustion since he needs to work extra hard.
Other test results have been generally positive. They found a cleft on one of the valves of his heart but nothing else to be immediately concerned about and even this may end up being a non-issue over time.
He still has a ways to go before he can come home (neonatologists think a couple of weeks) so thoughts, prayers, energy, vibes, juju, etc. are all welcome!
