Feeding the Hungry Next Door

Tax deductible
I am a high school student working on a project about world hunger. During my research, I discovered that hunger is not only a global problem but a neighborhood problem. While my family does not go hungry, there are people in my town and county who do not know where there next meal will come from.

As part of my research, I spoke with a representative of the Salvation Army. During my conversation with her, I discovered that the Salvation Army needs to raise $20,000 a week to provide enough food for families in need. I also found out that, according to the NYS Community Action Association, 9.9% of the people live below the poverty level in my county alone. That is 6,328 individuals (including 1,527 children). That is a lot of people.

The Salvation Army sells holiday baskets and raises $16,000 to put towards this problem. I want to help out and I think raising money for established programs is the best way to get food to people quickly.  No child should go to bed hungry.  No parent should worry about feeding their children.  But they do.  I am sure there are hungry people where you live, too.

Please share this on social media and let's make a difference in all our neighborhoods.  Please make a donation and ask your friends and families to do the same.
