Rescue the Horses displaced by Lava
Beschermde donatie
Thank YOU to everyone who helped us buy feed and care for these amazing Lava horses who Samantha rescued from the Puna volcano disaster. Thank you to the Panaewa zoo for sheltering them during the worst of it all. Thanks to all of you they all look great again! They have been moved to safe secure grass pastures but they come running to the fences when kids come by cause they miss working with children! Now we are asking for your help once more as we work to rebuild the Hawaii childrenʻs riding program!

Those who know these horses understand that the truly LOVE KIDS! They love the attention of kids and these horses are the most patient, kind and gentle souls on the planet!

Dan the lead horse, loves his finger painting kids parties, where children gather around him after placing their hands into safe water based paints and draw art all over him! For him this is not just super fun surrounded by children its a 10 hand massage followed by a warm water bath! He is such a ham!

Lets get these horses back to doing what they LOVE! Land has been found to secure the program and loans are being worked on but everything has to start from zero.
These horses need water buckets, tack, fences...a round pen....whew so much to do....cause the lava took everything. We need your help! If you have ever rode a horse as child you understand the amazing humility it teaches you. The respect for great vegan creatures of our planet can only really be experienced by spending time learning how these gentle giants communicate with us!

Please share this page! This unexpected eruption has forced the evacuation of people and animals on the big island of Hawaii. Area shelters were set up for people and pets but this is farm country and there is no program to help these horses. If you can transport to the barges on the other side of the big island, or have a shipping box stall, plead let us know as we can move some of the animals to other islands.

Please donate what you can, for the cost of one coffee you can feed a lava horse for several days. Every penny helps and will go to feed and provide care for these displaced Hawaii lava horses! Feed is running over $225 a day and these horses cannot work as they did before to pay for their expenses or provide for Samantha and her family. We also need volunteers like Billy Boy who came and cared for their hooves, or the amazing lady who mucked stalls today!
The volcano is leaving area farmers struggling to survive, many like Sam are homeless, with families and no way to earn an income right now.
We are the Kamalani Ohana and Pahoa horse owners who started this gofundme page for Big Island Pahoa Leilani area farmer Samantha Fives-Rush who has lost her home and income to the lava. All funds go to Samantha directly because in the midst of danger she secured her childrenʻs safety and then made sure each and every horse got out safely too! She is struggling to care for the horses twice daily. Now we must secure a place to move Samantha with her family and all the horses together, we need to get them out of stalls.
If you would like to visit these horses to brush pet or feed them, just bring papayaʻs (great for stress relief), apples or carrots in small pieces (safer for older horses and foals too). The Panaewa zoo is open from 9 am to 4 pm daily. On site there are details about each horse!
Thank you to Andrew Hara for the real time images of the lava flow. Sam has lost everything to this Volcano, but she is trying to permanently relocate all of the Hawaii Lava Horses and needs our help!
