We are a Toronto and Ottawa ON Canada based family who has a long time connection in Malawi with an outreach nurse by the name of Esther . We are currently raising money to provide the people of Msikinya village in northern Malawi the opportunity to build a well. The modern well is a sustainable project which will provide clean water for the entire community for years to come. It will be built and managed by the local communities under the leadership of Esther . The project will begin shortly after Christmas with a completion date projected for January 31 2019. Water is something we tend to take for granted and we believe that with your help we can raise the funds to build a well that will have a long reaching impact on improving the lives of 1000's of women, men and children! Frances Barry (a long time nurse at the Hospital for Sick Children who continues to work extensively in Malwai Africa alongside Esther) , Eileen Barry (a high school teacher of at risk youth in Toronto Ontario who has known Esther for many years) , Anna Barry (a high school teacher in Richmond Hill Ontario working in a hospital based mental health program who has known Esther for many years) + Mary Barry (mother to many of us who has inspired us to do all we can for those who have less than we and who through her example of giving has inspired her children and grandchildren to help others in any way possible, Mary has known Esther for many years) , Will McLean (who has just returned from visiting Esther and among other learning experiences had the great honour of visiting Msikinya village where the 2019 water well will be built), + Virginia McCormack (Virginia and Tony funded the building of a well in Malawi in 2017 through the same direct connections with Esther, their continued efforts to give the gift of water and their confidence in knowing the money raised will go in its entirety to the well project are invaluable ) . All money raised will be moved to Esther who will manage the well building project as she did in 2017. Photos and video of the progress along with a detailed report of how the money is used at each step will be provided by and available to all donors via a link you will be sent by email in January . The last day of the campaign will be Dec25th 2018. Money in excess of the goal will be used to support the families of Msikinya village with basic needs - food, clothing , shelter , education and for maintenance of the water well.
