I am Amy.
A single mother to 2 amazing kids. Sam, aged 9 and a daughter named Elliot, aged 7.5. We live in Colorado and life was easy, fine, and comfortable until it just wasn't. My husband and I recently got a divorce. I will spare you the details; but know that it has been messy as hell and seems to be getting worse. The kids and I are struggling some days and okay on others.

I have always been a stay at home mom; sometimes working part time, sometimes not. I have finally found a full time job as a preschool teacher making 25k a year. This is my career, my education and profession has always been driven by my love of teaching small children. It was meant to be a supplemental source of income to my ex-husband's and a means of having summers and vacations off with our children. My new job requires me to work full time, year round.
On my current salary, there is NO WAY I can afford to keep this house that my kids and I feel safe in. Last month I had to wait to get paid so that I could buy groceries. I have bills and debt from my college degree and no savings to rely on. This is why I am determined to finish my Masters degree in ECE with a concentration in administration.
I need to gain my financial independence as soon as I can. I want to show my kids what an educated and empowered woman looks like. And I am going to try my hardest to do all of this without taking out another loan.
