Family of Sgt. Randy Rysewyk

My name is Benjamin Crocker, and I was the first person to start compressions on Randy during the 2017 Las Vegas Super. I live in Spokane Valley, Washington and I wanted to help this family as much as possible. We lost not only a Spartan, but a retired officer of the Henderson Police Department. He was a father, and a husband. Randy has been Spartan racing for years, and was a dedicated and influential figure in his community. After giving CPR and rushing him to the hospital, we all thought he was going to pull through. In the Spartan community, and during every race, we overlook the facts that this can happen to anyone that is racing. No family, no Officer, no children, and no Spartan ever imagines this happening, and I just want us to come together as a community to support this family in every way we can. No children should be without a father and it deeply saddens me, because that family, and their community lost someone that was completely unexpected. All funds will be used for any help the family may incur during this time, including funeral expenses and any other expenses along with the passing of Randy. I also want this to help raise awareness in the Spartan community as well, if you see anyone needing help, please stop to always give your aid, because anything can happen in our races. RIP Randy.
