UPDATE: I just learned this past Monday that the lady that inspired me to start this program has passed and was found in an alley way, no one should have this ending to their lives
A few week a ago I met a homeless lady while I was walking my dogs we spoke and she was so happy that I took a few minutes to speak to her. She told me that she used to own a dog but had to give it up when she became homeless, she loved talking to the dogs and giving them a pat or 2, I thnk those few minutes made it a better day for her.
It got me thinking about the other homeless here in our town and decided that something had to be done to help them. I have talked with 2 churches and the Police Dept. and they all told me how many homeless are here in town that go without each and every day I was so surprised on how many of the "invisible" population there are.
What we are doing is The Brown Bag Project this program will supply a meal twice a week to the homeless here in town. We will be serving a "packed" lunch/dinner to each person who comes to our tables that will be set-up in downtown. There are about 175 homeless here in town, I know that doesn't sound like many but 1 homeless is too much.
As some of us know there are many that have pets with them, in their world it's the only friend they have and love them no matter what, I would also like to provide dog food for them with The Brown Bag Project. Several of the pet stores here in town are willing to give to this program and that is a big load of my shoulders.
Now I need your help to make this a program that will benefit the homeless, Please Please donate what you can every little bit counts.
