As many of you know, on the 10th February this year I lost a best friend, Ted.

Tragically, Ted took his own life, totally unexpected and totally unbelievable. Ted was someone that you can’t really put in to words, his smile lit up a room and his personality was one in a million, he was destined to do amazing things and have such a hugely positive impact on even more people than he already had, he would have been a truly wonderful doctor.

The pain of losing him for his family and friends has been at times unbearable, something that no one should have to go through. Incredibly, Ted’s family have set up the Ted Foundation in his memory, with the expressed wish of trying to reduce the stigma attached to mental health, working alongside medical schools and universities. The statistics are terrifying, particularly in the cases of young men and so much more needs to be done about this.

On the 19th October I will be cycling with 25 of his friends and family from London to Amsterdam- considering I don’t yet have a bike and I’m not confident I can actually ride one, this is going to be a huge challenge. Any spare pennies to help me along the way and to support this incredibly worthwhile cause would be greatly appreciated.
