Lisa has a passion for her friends and her 2 dogs (Buddy & Indio) and love for the outdoors. She is generous with her time, volunteers and is supportive. She shares her love of life openly and fully with those lucky to know her. Along the way, Lisa has touched the lives of thousands of people and maintained life long friendships.
Last February Lisa discovered a lump in her breast. In the fall, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer; the news of the diagnosis has been devastating to family, coworkers, and friends like me.
Lisa has one sizeable large tumour and 5 smaller ones in her breast and cancer has spread into a few lymph nodes. She remains optimistic that this can be beaten, however, she faces a very long journey of 6 months of chemo, followed by 2 surgeries and radiation. In addition, the medical team has also discovered another smaller tumour that is at the base of her spine, which possibly could require another surgery.
Lisa is up for the fight but has some large financial roadblocks as she does not have any benefits or sick leaves through work. Although she works many hours at her job, she is still considered auxiliary, and with that, has no benefits...not even sick days.
Already missing days of work with chemo treatments, and the after-effects, the costs for housing, prescriptions not covered by BC med, continued loss of work and future rehab services, such as physiotherapy, have and will place Lisa in significant financial difficulty.
Although it’s difficult for her to ask for help, she really does need it, so has agreed and is hopeful that this fund might help her with the stress of the financial burdens the cancer has and will cause, so she can concentrate on her health needs.
