Insurance won't pay for Surgery

Hi, I'm Amanda Storm.

Long story short - I have a large umbilical hernia and a major rectus diastasis spanning from rib cage to rib cage (that’s about 4 inches and increasing). The hernia my insurance will cover. The additional surgery they won’t. They believe that my internal organs bulging outside of my abdomen is elective.

I am limited to certain things that I can do. Anything that puts strain on my abdomen is dangerous and can cause life threatening problems to my abdomen and intestines. The muscular wall that contains my intestines is stretched because of my previous pregnancies and it is dangerously thin to the point of not having a muscular wall to contain my intestines in place. If you were to approach me I look 7 months pregnant but that is due to the abdominal distention. I am in constant pain that varies from sharp stabbing pain to muscle cramping to which nothing helps. From holding my children to something as natural as having a bowel movement has become a very painful event. I have recently had a CT scan and the situation has progressed for the worse. I try to remain positive but now I am faced with my insurance being cancelled in January and have no

Again because I am who I am – I don’t complain. But I am in dire need of help. Because I will lose my insurance in January I need surgery ASAP.

I work for Meals on Wheels at this time but because of the progression of my situation I will not be able to continue at some point. I am doing everything I can to save every little bit of spare change but it’s still not enough. I need half of the surgery cost paid up front or they will not schedule me. I can make payments on the rest until before the surgery. I am embarrassed to be asking for help but someone just recently said that you can’t get help unless you ask. So therefore I am asking.
