Help with Jessica's Medical Expenses

Jessica & Gene are not only our neighbors but our amazing friends who we love dearly. Let's surround them with amazing support whether that be money, time, food, prayers or all the above.

Since reading Jessica's post about her journey I can't stop thinking about this profound statement she made 1 month after her 1st dianosis..."BUT GOD." It's stuck with me for days.

But God can...

Jessica has been battling cancer off and on since March 2018. She has recently been referred from UNC to MD Anderson in TX for a second opinion and has her first consultation on Oct 31st. Below is her story...

In March of 2018, I was originally diagnosed. At that time, the cancer was only in one little node. We did immunotherapy for a year at that time and everything seemed good.

In March of 2020, a routine scan revealed a small spot on my lung. A lung biopsy revealed that that spot was Melanoma. This was my first recurrence and the first time that “distant spread” was seen. We then tried a different immunotherapy option for a year and once again, everything was good for a while.

In June of 2021, terrible pain in my knee lead to an MRI that revealed a cancerous lesion on my femur. Further scans revealed that there was cancer throughout my body. At this time we tried two different immunotherapy drugs at the same time and this lead to full remission, which was quite amazing!

In September of 2022, a routine scan revealed a spot in my gut area. A biopsy confirmed that this spot was cancer as well.

My team at UNC has been incredible – they are truly like family at this point, but we are looking for more and longer-term treatment options. That is what has prompted us to head to Texas and MD Anderson for a second opinion.

Though this has been a four-and-a-half-year battle, our Lord has been so faithful to us. We are trusting Him to lead us to exactly the doctors and treatment options that He has for us.

This GoFundMe is being set up to help alleviate some of the financial stress on Gene and Jessica with the upcoming travel and medical expenses they will face as well as missed work.
