We are a community hospital, and our Healthcare workers have all gone above and beyond their duties to serve, and it is amazing for everyone to get the recognition and support they deserve. Meals have been particularly important and welcomed as the hospital is in an area where many of the restaurants and grocery stores have closed, and it is incredibly difficult for our workers to get a meal during their long and busy shifts. This act of kindness has been an incredible boost to us here at Flushing and we are all so grateful.”

Asians in America and New York Strangers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, are joining forces to deliver meals to hospitals, emergency medical services, fire departments, and police precincts in the five boroughs. We are here to ensure the heroes on the frontline are fed and fueled to fight another day. 100% of donations are tax deductible and will go towards the purchase and donation of meals for frontline workers.
Asians in America’s mission is to create a pan-Asian-American movement to increase social services to the Asian-American community and empower the Asian-American community to take advantage of them. With this increased Asian-American civic engagement, Asians in America will help those in need in the ways that only we can: with a large network at our disposal offering community and culturally-sensitive solutions. However, we quickly realized that our community needed our help NOW and we would best serve the community by feeding the first responders who are putting themselves at risk to battle the coronavirus and protect our communities.
We are proud to partner with New York Strangers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, best known for its work with the youth in Chinatown. We hope to participate in the creation of the next generation of leaders. Through its existing network and volunteers, New York Strangers will aid us in our expansion into a full non-profit organization known for increasing Asian-American civic participation and engagement, and in improving the operational capacity of our current initiative to feed the frontline.
Our group of local volunteers, from a variety of professions and backgrounds, have developed a comprehensive plan to allocate resources to as many frontline workers as possible.

No amount is too small. For the price of a pint of ice cream ($5), you can feed a frontline worker! Help us keep our frontline workers moving.
Volunteer your time!
We’re looking for volunteers who can pick up meals from the restaurants and drive meals to the destinations in need. All you need is a car and some spare time.
Speak up for our heroes!
Share this campaign with your friends and family! The more people who know, the more frontline workers we can feed!
What it all comes down to is igniting and building a sense of connectedness within the Asian American community in a way that is also impactful and empowering from a societal standpoint. In the face of adversity and especially during this pandemic, we have realized now more than ever how important it is for people to stand together to not only fight major crises, but to fight hate that stems from it. Big, meaningful changes throughout history have only been possible when people come together and serve each other & the community, from the ground up. As children of first generation immigrant parents in America there is a sense of responsibility to cultivate a system that not only provides resources for those in need but also reminds people that they are not alone in any struggle- from our frontline workers, to our senior citizens, to our next generation of growing leaders, and every person in between. By starting here and planting our roots in light of this pandemic, we hope to continuously empower Asian American individuals not just within the community, but towards our society on a grander scale.

Plans for the Future
Although we would love to deliver to individuals or families in need, we are unable to do so at this time due to a lack of sufficient resources. We are, however, connecting those in need with existing programs, such as the NYC Food Delivery Assistance program. If you need food delivered and do not know how to register for the NYC Food Delivery Assistance program, please let us know and we would be happy to help you register.
We are also launching a block watch in the predominantly Asian-American neighborhood of Flushing, New York to deter crime and protect Asian-Americans against racially motivated attacks.
