Harding in Zambia

Hello family and friends! 

I am a freshman at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. I am majoring in Elementary Education, and I will hopefully be teaching in a few years! I graduated from Winnsboro High School in 2015 and have been blessed to be a member of Winnsboro Church of Christ since I was in the 3rd grade. After I graduated, I was able to work as a counselor at Camp Deer Run, the place that allowed me to find my own faith in God, and also where I was fortunate enough to speak the Word to young campers all summer. I have always been passionate about doing mission work in a place completely different from the world I live in, and would love to minor in Missions so that I would have the choice of teaching in a country less developed and in dire need of education. I have a love for being with young children, teaching them, and witnessing them grow. 

I learned about HIZ (Harding in Zambia) about a year ago when I got accepted to Harding. HIZ is a study abroad program in Zambia, Africa. The goal of this program is to help students understand the missionary needs of Africa while experiencing Zambia first hand. Students live in a compound that holds the George S. Benson Teachers College as well as an elementary and high school, medical clinic, orphanage, and a "haven" for infants and toddlers who have lost their mothers to AIDS. I will be able to be with young children and teach in a classroom, play with babies and toddlers in The Haven, and make amazing relationships with the men and women there. After many months of prayer, I decided that this was something I am sure I want to do. I was recently accepted into the HIZ program and will have the opportunity to learn and live in a completely different culture, and see totally new perspectives in the beauty of God's people.

My parents have always supported me in everything I have ever wanted, and I am so grateful that they are willing to help, but I know that I definitely need more help than I can get from them.  I am asking for your help, not only financially but also through support and prayers as I try to raise money for something that will be a once in a lifetime experience for me. Any help would be much appreciated- even small donations would be a big help! I am truly blessed and thankful for the time you took to read this.
