Time doesn’t always heal. Sometimes, it hurts us as well.
My friend Kushal Sedhai is fighting a wound caused by cancer and worsened by time.
Kushal, who is only 28 years old, has always had a smile and helping hand ready for anyone who needed it. Now he needs help himself and we are reaching out to everyone who can asset and help him fight this battle.
Kushal started having stomach and back pain in June but he only took simple medicine, hoping that it would get better with time and rest. But time only brought worse pain and early morning trips to the E.R. It wasn’t until his second visit that doctors diagnosed him with cancer. He has stage 2 Burkitt’s lymphoma, a fast growing lymphoid cancer.
Now, he is looking at a long and grueling chemotherapy process in the months ahead. He has received various stages of chemo already with more scheduled for coming days. These treatments generally carry a hefty cost, which without the safety net of exquisite insurance coverage, is difficult to sustain.

Over the years, Kushal has been a great friend to many of us. We have known him for his fun-loving personality, his kindness and his genuine concern for the well being of people around him. The news of his cancer came as a great shock to us. It has been devastating but the tremendous energy and positivity that he has shown in the wake of such misfortune is something special and refreshing to see.
A treacherous road lies ahead of Kushal but if all of us chip in with little of what we can, it will go a long way in reusing some of the financial uncertainties for him. It will aid him in continuing treatment and recovering from this dark time.
In life, we can’t always alter what is but we can make contributions toward shaping what can be. Today, devastated as you may be to read about what has happened, you can still act in helping our friend Kushal’s future.
