Children's Best Interest Come First

My only child and only grandchild are in need of financial help and it pains me that I do not have the abilities to help them so I created this account.

My daughter resides in the State of Tennessee where we have been unable to find any Woman's Resource Centers or other financial assistance for woman who were not physically abused in their relationship. She is a single mom who works full time and does not receive any government assistance, further narrowing her options for free or reduced fee legal assistance.  Her current custody agreement was written at the time of her divorce when my granddaughter was still very young. At that time the agreement was doable, with additional verbal agreements that worked for them both.  Now, however, her ex is not living up to their agreements and I am concerned he does not have my granddaughters best interest as his main concern. I do not feel he is not raising her in a positive and healthy way based on things my granddaughter has shared and is using the custody agreement as a tool against my daughter. Its now time for my daughter to revisit the courts and have the custody agreement modified by a judge to be in the best interest of the child. For this to be properly addressed, legal representation is needed. My daughter had retained an attorney who subsequently took her money and abandoned her case before ever filing. She has since found out this attorney has done this before and been reported to the bar and is currently on probation. Now she is out the money she invested with this attorney, has had nothing filed in court on her behalf, must start all over again and must also report this attorney to the Bar Association. Without financial assistance available from the state or government agencies, and her income not being enough to pay for a new attorneys $3,500 retainer, I have set up this Go Fund Me account to help her the only way I can.  Anyone who has ever had to deal with custody issues knows this is not an easy process, financially or emotionally. Any and all help is greatly appreciated in helping to reach our goal.  Sharing our page will help to spread our cause to others who may wish to and be in a  position to help.  Thank you.
