Zanna's Emergency Housing & Medical Funds
Zanna is a dear friend of ours enduring overwhelming hardship during this Pandemic. I came to know Zanna in the Cafe du Soleil community in Lower Haight. I was quickly drawn to her warm heart and vibrant nature.
Zanna is unable to work during the Pandemic and is extremely vulnerable to serious health problems if she contracts Covid-19. In her recent past, she was hospitalized in the ICU for 3 weeks when she contracted Lemierre Syndrome — a rare infection, a complication of a bacterial throat infection. During this time she suffered from sepsis and underwent lung surgery. She is still dealing with thousands of dollars in medical bills due to our broken healthcare system.
When Zanna recovered, she was drawn to volunteer for the sick and most vulnerable. She demonstrated dedication to Health Justice and was invited to volunteer for UCSF Medical Center. Zanna is volunteering there as a Patient Advisor.
Zanna grew up in Brazil and her family still lives there; we know that Latinx folks are especially susceptible to health complications due to Covid. The Covid Crisis & fires in Brazil are quickly getting worse due to poor political leadership and she is feeling hopeless that she can’t be with her family for support during this stressful time.
As the Pandemic worsens and our leaders prioritize the corporate economy, we know that we are each other's best support.
Please consider donating so that Zanna may secure housing, food, and security.
Zanna has tried to access all of the city's covid resources and has been denied by them all.
We appreciate your compassion. Thank you!! Wishing you health & safety.
PS.: If you know of a safe living situation available for rent — please let us know.
