Support Lola's Emergency Surgeries

Lola's Ongoing Battle

On March 7th, we noticed that Lola was experiencing abnormal vomiting and she had a hard, egg sized lump on her belly. We took her to the vet the next day, and they informed us that Lola had a foreign object lodged in her small intestine area. We chose a local emergency pet clinic that we had been to before, and we dropped her off at 3pm that same day.

Lola waited for 10 hours at the emergency clinic, with the doctors pushing her surgery time further and further back due to her being in a "stable condition". At 4 am we received a devastating phone call from the surgeons. They had found that a portion of Lola's intestines had herniated. After 2 hours of surgery they were unable to remove the foreign object or fix the herniated intestines due to their inexperience.

Thankfully we were able to find another emergency pet clinic, and they were able to quickly perform her surgery. 6 cm of Lola's intestines were necrosed and had to be removed. The surgeons also found that there was no aforementioned foreign object in her intestines. The previous vet's misdiagnosis cost us precious hours of Lola's life.

Unfortunately, three days later, Lola’s intestines began to leak, requiring a third surgery. The surgeons had to remove another small portion of her intestines. Thankfully, since then, she has been stable. Lola is a strong girl and a fighter; she has been in the ICU for about a week now, and every time we visit, there is hope and fight in her eyes. We hope that our baby will be able to come home soon.
