My name's Ros and I'm a 26 year old Marketing Assistant who loves Jesus Christ and jasmine rice If you're reading this, thank you, that means a lot. The update
As you may or may not have already known, I started this journey last year. Unfortunately, COVID closed the borders. The school is still running from September 30th and I'm going to try and still get there (God-willing). It's gonna be quite the journey though so I'm so excited that you took the time out to even read this far <3 Thanks, friend.
The why
The journey began approximately a year or so ago with a crazy weird dream that ended up with me asking God what it all meant and Him replying "Don't be afraid to look silly/crazy for My name." I really felt God stirring my heart to do something out of my comfort zone. But did He really mean to leave a place I'd been calling home for seven years, a stable job, friends and family?
I believe God has always been stirring my heart for the "one". The one on the fringes, the one who’s not so obviously sought after, the one who doesn’t feel seen. I've always deeply cherished my friendships and have found such joy in encouraging friends into their identity, their God-given identity in the hopes that they too might flourish and know God deeply. I'm easily moved by people’s stories, find joy in asking questions and have been in many situations where Jesus has broken my heart for what breaks His, where I’ve sought to get to know people more and have been met with a strong feeling of compassion and desire to help them find freedom
He's broken my heart for the injustice and treatment of people. He's been stirring my heart for a while in knowing that there is so much more to life than just living for myself, that my voice can be used for His glory in breaking chains and helping people find and taste the freedom that Jesus brings. I used to view compassion, empathy, wearing my heart on my sleeve and being so easily moved by things emotionally, as a sign of weakness. Now, I feel like God is saying tune into those things, feel those things in their entirety and let it move you into action.
The what and when
One of my desires has been to attend Bible school somewhere and practically outwork and reach people. For a while, my feet have itched for new soil to get stuck into. With this in mind, the Lord moved my heart to apply for Youth with a Mission's (YWAM) LA base Discipleship Training School (DTS) with an Anti-trafficking focus which would start on September 30th 2021. The how
I'm currently working a full-time job so I am so grateful to be able to save money for flights, visas, travel cards which aren't included in the breakdown price of the school. I've also felt moved to fundraise and have people partner with me on this crazy journey. So amidst all the fear and faith I could muster - I've quite literally had to be like: "Jesus take the wheel."
