Yung VJ Omo in da DOME!

Donation protected

Hey kids! My name's Omo, I live in Los Angeles, and since 2013 I've been diving head-first into the incredible world of immersive media. Many of you know my work by the moniker of "yung VJ omo". You can see a portfolio feed on my Instagram.

Well I've recieved amazing news for a yung VJ like your girl. I've been accepted into the MORPHOS residency program, a show I volunteered for last year in LA. This year they're going bigger and better in Denver. You can find more information about the program here. This year's residency runs from September 21 to October 20.

Fulldome is definitely the next frontier in video art and immersive media, and I've been dying for the chance to take a crack at it. We're talking a fully 360 degree experience... what can get more turnt up than that? But don't just take my word for it:

Recent advances in technology are rapidly changing the way in which we view digital media. Immersive media allows the audience to a multisensory experience. Fulldome offers a unique group immersive experience with it’s immersive half sphere screen, high resolution digital projections systems, and surround sound. With recent innovations that allow for easy drag and drag playback, live VJing, interactivity, and gaming, the virtually untapped possibilities in the digital dome are endless. Artists will also receive training in Virtual Reality, which is entering the consumer market with high refresh rates that allow for individual full spherical 360° immersive experiences and is a great way to previs dome work.

Artists will receive:

-3 days fulldome workshop,
-2 days VR workshop,
-3 hours per week one-on-one consulting with individual dome time to test concepts,
-Local dome artist group meetings and support
-Group outings
-Use of rendering machine and spherical live action capture equipment
-Two public presentations – Fort Collins’ Digital Dome and Denver’s Gates Planetarium
-End of residency dinner celebration

"Wow Omo that sounds so cool!" I know, right? I'm really excited for this opportunity of a lifetime. However there are some costs that I've gotta cover in order to produce not one, but TWO incredible dome shows in 30 days.

In order to complete this residency I've got a running tally of:
$1650 - residency fee
$750 - Denver/Fort Collins sublet
$50 x 30 day per diem
$100 - gas to Colorado (cuz a girl's gotta have all her gear)

I'm going to be purusing one (or more!) of three projects while I'm in Colorado, so here's some log lines for you:

-Blackitalism: an audio-visual trap music mixtape

-1/4 On Da Dash: a 360 degree recreation (using a Stepmania port with virtual reality options) and celebration of the classic Konami game Dance Dance Revolution

-Heavy Metal Thundercloud: a fully immersive virtual tour of off-grid commune East Jesus, located in Slab City outside of Niland, CA; as a heavy metal feminist western starring Nana Ghana

In addition to offering my VJ services at your party or event, I'm excited to announce the yung VJ jewelry line - with USB stick necklaces and video art earrings! People who donate a certain amount will get the first run of these items, and those who are SoCal based can even get local dropoff with a big hug. Any big ticket sponsors ($500 or more) will be entitled to tickets for the Denver shows.

Thanks for reading, and even if you can't donate, share this link with anybody you know who might be interested in immersive media, video art, heavy metal, feminism, DDR, audio-visual mixtapes, or just a dumb Omo joke. Stay trill!
