Medical Expenses for Trevor

Spende geschützt
Hi everyone. I’m starting this page for my husband Trevor. Trevor is a captain for Mesa Airlines out of Dallas, TX. Trevor’s passion has been flying since he was a young kid, so I always heard from his mom. He definitely has loved it as long as we have been together. As some of you may know, Trevor had a very bad fall back in October while he was in Missouri. Unfortunately, Trevor is now temporarily disabled, needs therapy multiple times a week, and needs assistance with everyday things. I’m working part-time at a local school and spend the rest of my time being Trevor’s caregiver and being with our son, Garrett. Garrett is 11 years old and has quite a crazy schedule himself. This accident has affected us very heavily financially. He does not have disability insurance and will be out of work for at least a few months. So on top of our normal bills, we have medical bills and on going therapy sessions to pay for.

Trevor ended up with a compressed spinal cord that left him with severe pain, numbness and weakness on his right arm, hand and foot. Basically, he couldn’t do simple tasks like tying his shoes, eating, picking things up or even squeezing your hand with his right arm. He also experiences severe shoulder pain on both right and left which is related to his rotator cuffs.

Trevor was discharged from the hospital in MO with a walker as he was unstable on his legs. We were referred to Mayo Clinic in Jax and needed to contact them as soon as we got back to FL.

Trevor was advised he needed to have surgery to correct his injuries. Also, without surgery if he fell again he’d be paralyzed. He was then scheduled for a spinal surgery that would involve several vertebrae in his neck (from C2-T1). He had this surgery on November 7th. The surgeon advised surgery went well and he’ll need to go through extensive therapy.

After surgery, he lost function in his left arm and hand and still had numbness and loss of function in his right arm.  The loss of the other side only happens to about 15% of people. We were told it could be a few months, a year, or may not come back fully. Since surgery, his walking has improved immensely and he no longer is using his walker.  They have been told that therapy is absolutely necessary to have a chance of full recover but it’ll take a lot of work.

Which brings us to where we are now. Trevor is working hard to get better but still has long way to go. If there is any donation you can make, we would be forever grateful. Even if you are not able to donate, please pray for his healing process and that he can get back to doing what he loves quickly.

Thank you for all your support.
