Move In Costs/Cost Of Living

Donation protected

On November 30th 2019 at approximately 11pm, my apartment had a fire. The VHS player I had, had an electrical shortage, my boyfriend James was asleep in our bed and awoke to our whole room in flames. Thankfully there a fire extinguisher next to our unit and within a few minutes he was able to put it out. Even though the fire was only in the bedroom, we lost just about everything in it and also everything in the rest of the apartment due to smoke damage and chemicals from when the firefighters came.
Our bed, couches, all toiletries, food, dvds, records, things you would think would be fine, were ruined because of smoke damage. We did have renters insurance, after a few days of being in a different unit our landlord moved us into, the insurance company put us in a hotel until we could find a new place to live. But due to stress and both James and I losing our jobs, we stayed in hotels for a few months. After a few battles with the insurance company that added unneeded stress, they put us on streets.
Cancelled all reservations in the hotels they booked for us until we could find a place to live, without telling us and we were left homeless with no money and nowhere for us to go. I have two cats and no one could help me take them is, which is understandable, so the little money I did have in my savings went to making sure we had a roof over our heads and that my cats were being taken care of. During this time Spring Training was going on so the cheapest motels had raised their prices, I was paying an outrageous amount for motels that should have been $50.  After a little while of doing that, a few good friends took us in but they had dogs and it was very stressful for our cats and their dogs to be together. Luckily, a close family friend was able to take in my cats and also me at the beginning of this month. I got approved for a studio and I think things are finally looking up.
The past 3 and half months have been extremely hard to get through, I lost so much. There was a lot of pain, stress, sadness and hardship. With this studio, comes a new opportunity to start fresh and move into another chapter of my life. Due to my circumstances and not having a job because of this pandemic has been hard.

I am moved into my own stuido, finally things are starting to move smoother. I am in need of things that I no longer have for the house.. Pans, bath mat, cleaning supplies, pillow cases, hygiene products and a bunch of other things I could can and will use on the daily and in the distant future..
Anything helps.

I appreciate everyone who has reached out to me, helped me, supported me and loved me through this time in my life. Thank you for reading.
