YKPA Orphange Tabanan

Hi everyone!

I'm Adilia, a social worker from Belgium. I'm volunteering in this Bali children's home named ‘YKPA’. Let me tell you a bit about it.

It all began in 2009, with a mother named Ibu Putu. She saw street kids begging in Bali and took on helping them by giving food and water? Ibu Putu began teaching the kids on the beach in Kuta. Her little beachschool grew to a more bigger one. An organisation was born named ‘Bali street kids Project’. It grew more into meeting more of their basic needs, of shelter, healthcare.

Ibu Putu later started 2 orphanage homes for kids who doesn’t have caregiver(s) anymore or who’s parents couldn’t afford rasing their child. I’m volunteering in this orphanage in Tabanan, a small beautiful village in Bali. In this orphanage are 11 boys and girls untill the age of 14. They’re the most curious, funniest and sweetest kids ever.

In Indonesia almost all social organisations depends on external donations. They don’t get financial support from the goverment. Sadly enough, especially after the pandemic, YKPA hasn't enough money for food, paying the local staffs, or affording the bigger kids schooling.
