A little over a year ago my sister found my mom collapsed on her bedroom floor one morning with blood all around her. They live in Richland Oregon which is a very small town. My Mom was rushed to the nearest hospital which was in Baker Oregon. That night she ended up getting 3 pints of blood and she was still very weak. Three days before she collapsed, she had a procedure to remove a polyp in her stomach, but it had ruptured, and she was bleeding internally. They rushed her by ambulance to a Boise Hospital because they didn't have any more of her blood type. She ended up getting two more pints of blood and they went in and stopped the bleeding in her stomach. They ran more test to make sure she wasn't bleeding somewhere else. That's when they found a large mass in her liver. They did a biopsy of the mass, and it is cancer. She has a rare cancer that turned out to be Bile Duct Cancer (intramepatic cholangiocarcinoma). There is no cure for it, it is terminal. The cancer has not spread to anywhere else in her body which was good news. Since her heart is not strong enough for surgery or chemo the specialist got together and decided the safest treatment would be Y90. Thru the last year she has had 7 blood transfusions, air flighted to Boise hospital twice, and had to come to Portland to see the specialist and have some test ran before the procedure. In March she had the Y90 treatment. The doctors say now it is shrinking but since it was a size of an orange, she may have to have another Y90 treatment so it will shrink more.
All these bills have added up. The savings my mom had is drained. She is retired and on a fixed income. My sister is working 7 days a week to try and help with the bills. My sister is exhausted, not only does she work 7 days a week, but she does all the grocery shopping, pick up medication and all the other running around she needs to do. On top of everything with the cancer they are in the middle of the fires going on eastern Oregon. The medical bills keep calling which is stressing my mom out. It is so sad with someone trying to deal with cancer and the collectors all calling. My Mom needs to focus on getting strong and to fight this cancer. We are just asking for some help to get the medical bills down so my mom can get strong. Although it is terminal this treatment will help her live a lot longer. We are all tapped out and if anyone can help with this my family especially my mom would be really grateful. If you can't help please say a prayer and share. We might be grasping at straws, but we have to give it a shot. Thank you so much!!
