As we all try to figure out our “new normal” for the coming weeks or months ahead, its important to find new and different ways to stay connected.
As photographer, I have spent countless hours documenting the connections between parents, children, siblings, grandparents, cousins, etc. Even though we are isolated, I know those connections are still happening within your four walls, I’m just not there to capture them for you.
That’s why I’ve joined #TheFrontStepsProject movement!! I will be taking 5 minute “Front Step Portraits” of my Stafford neighbors. After your session I will email you one digital file from your portrait session with me. In exchange I’m asking for a good faith donation to the Fredericksburg Food Bank through this GoFundMe page. A $50 donation is recommended but any amount is appreciated.
I will be posting these images on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #thefrontstepsproject. Please share these posts. Let's spread the word!
If you would like to participate, please email me at [email redacted] to schedule your session. In order to participate, you must agree to allow your session photo to be posted on Facebook and Instagram.
These sessions will be brief, only about 5-10 minutes. They will take place outside ONLY, at least 15 feet from your front steps. You can dress up, wear sweats, a costume, really whatever you want. It’s totally up to you! Be YOURSELF.
To be clear: You will know when I am coming. You can step outside (ONLY), where I’ll be standing near your driveway or street, at least 15 feet away. I’ll take a couple quick shots and leave. I physically interact with no one, and touch nothing, during these sessions. I will smile, wave, and laugh with you... because couldn’t we all use a bit of that?
This is not a typical get-dressed-up-and-pose-for-the-photographer session. You can stand outside in your “day-time jammies”. Your kids can be mismatched, wearing their favorite costume of the day, bed-head, slippers and all. You can grab your glass of wine and plate of brownies and sit in your bathrobe. Have a furry family member? Bring them too! Have a Senior? Do they have their cap and gown? I’ll capture that moment for them as well. You CAN dress up if you’d like. What every you do, just be you!!
I have chosen the Fredericksburg Food Bank as my charity of choice as they are helping Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) support students with meals during this time.
