St Catherine's Park is sadly lacking facilities for people with disabilities.
A Sensory Garden will bring a peaceful tranquility for all to enjoy.
Imagine wide paths for ease of wheelchair access, raised beds of scented herbs and brightly flowered plants, pergolas dripping with honeysuckle, birds chirping while ornamental grasses rustle along with leaves on surrounding trees.
All funds will be used for clearing the land, pathways, benches, raised beds, plants and trees. These need to be purchased and laid. It is not cheap. The benefits of this garden cannot be measured.
Within our park are sports fields, a playground, BMX track, woodland walks. Even our dogs have a designated area to run free.
This Sensory Garden is for everyone, all inclusive, all abilities and all welcome.
We are St Catherine's Park Group and are spearheading this project, hoping to start late Autumn to open Summer 2019. Kildare Co. Co. earmarked the land and we expect a donation soon. Intel, based in Leixlip, awarded a Pride of Place to this project. Leixlip/Celbridge Cllrs discussed donating a portion of December's budget. We are applying for all available grants.
Please help make St Catherine's Park truly a park for everyone.
