Leela Memorial school, Haridwar, India

Donation protected

In July last year my very good friend Yogesh Uniyal whom I have known for several years founded a school for poor children that would have no hope of receiving an education otherwise, in Haridwar, northern India.
He started from scratch, building and furnishing as funds allowed. Once work had begun on the school, he and the rest of the team that shared his dream worked tirelessly, though monsoon rains and worse to complete building work and the school was ready to accept the first pupils at start of the school year in 2023.
In just a few short months Leela Memorial School, has achieved amazing results and grown unbelievably. There are waiting lists for children to be accepted into the school as students. The children have already won numerous awards for their work, amazing in itself but even more so when you realise that most of these children have had very little education and some of them have never had any formal education at all. Yogesh, along with co-founders Sohan Rana, Pasteek Rastogi and all the other members of the team have made this possible through sheer determination and the promise that they will work tirelessly to end poverty for these children and their families.
Unfortunately, its absolutely freezing in Northern India, in the foothills of the Himalayas, where Leela Memorial School situated right now. Many of the children are unable to go to school due to cold. The 150 children that attend the school do so absolutely free. Everything is provided by donation. These children are from extremely poor families and if it wasn't for Leela Foundation, the parent charity that built the school they wouldn't recieve an education nor the chance to escape a life of gut wrenching poverty. The team at the school are trying to provide warm clothes so the children can continue to attend school. For a full set of winter clothes including inner( vest and pants), cap, jacket, socks, warm trouser and hand gloves it costs the equivalent of €16.68. Please consider donating anything at all to help to keep these children warm and allow them to continue to attend school despite the cold weather. Every single cent will go directly to the children of the school. Please also share this.
