Blackhawk bridge rebuilding funding

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Alex McAtee a boy scout from troop 258 at Saint Pius in Rock Island Illinois. Currently I am rebuilding a bridge at Black Hawk state park. As the scout working for eagle scout I will act as foreman and I am also responsible for fundraising.I am rebuilding this bridge because when it collapses it will cut off an entire section of the trails and the fallen bridge may sit there for years due to the current money crisis in the Illinois government.

It is important that I do this because the trails at Black Hawk are truly “a diamond in the rough”. A hidden gem that we will miss when it is gone. The trails at Black Hawk are truly a great nature experience which is just a few minutes away, the trails even go by the site of an old coal mine. The trails at Black Hawk are a wondrous thing to behold great for a casual walk, walking the dog, or a hike.

We have identified design flaws with the bridge that we shall fix when we rebuild it. These flaws are; the way the support is laid upon the pylons, the supports being in the river instead of on the bank resulting in severe erosion, and finally the bridge crossing the creek diagonally instead of simply going straight across. In order for me to begin and complete the rebuilding of the bridge I need $3000 in donations. This means that if just 600 people give $5 I will have enough to rebuild the bridge.
