Hi everyone,

My name is Shannon, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a lot of hope.

My son Liam’s beloved service dog, Sunny, will soon be undergoing major, life saving surgery. The day after Christmas, we received devastating news: at only three years old, Sunny was diagnosed with cancer.

After an emergency veterinary visit, Sunny was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor that required immediate attention. We found a specialist an hour away, who determined that Sunny needs surgery as soon as possible. The veterinary team rearranged their schedule, they postponing lower-risk cases. That way Sunny can have surgery as soon as possible after the New Year.

Before surgery, Sunny will undergo a full day of cancer staging while under anesthesia to ensure the cancer has not spread further in his body. This includes lymph node and spleen biopsies, ultrasound imaging of his entire abdominal area , lab work, and X-rays.

To maximize the success of surgery and maintain proper blood flow post-operation, Sunny will likely need complete removal of his pinna (ear flap). This approach offers the safest path to clean margins and lowers the risk of the cancer spreading.

We are hopeful the surgery will be successful, but the cost of saving Sunny’s life has been overwhelming. Between the emergency visit, diagnostic testing, surgery, hospitalization, and post-operative care, expenses have already reached several thousand dollars. As many know, veterinary care-especially when time is critical, can be incredibly expensive.

Sunny is more than just a pet, he is family. He has been Liam’s best friend, emotional support, and constant companion through so many moments in life. Especially with the continued changes of being a military family. Sunny’s gentle soul, playful spirit, and big golden-brown eyes have touched everyone who meets him. He deserves every chance at a long, happy, healthy life.

As a service dog, Sunny provides physical support and stability for Liam every single day with his autism and scoliosis. Losing him would be devastating, not only emotionally, but in Liam’s ability to navigate daily life without his constant companion by his side.

We are humbly asking for any support you are able to give to help cover the cost of Sunny’s emergency surgery and ongoing recovery. Whether it’s $5, $50, or simply sharing this fundraiser, every bit truly makes a difference. Every share helps Sunny reach someone who may be able to help him fight this battle.

We are so grateful for the love, prayers, positive thoughts, and kindness that have already been shown. Sunny is a fighter, and with your help, we believe he can heal, come back stronger than ever, and continue walking right beside Liam on their journey together.

How funds will be used:
• Emergency veterinary visit and diagnostics
• Oncology specialist consultation
• Life-saving surgery (including ear removal)
• Hospitalization and anesthesia
• Post-operative medications and follow-up care
• Possible additional treatment if needed

(Any funds not used for Sunny’s care will go toward continued veterinary support or be donated forward.)

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

With love,
Shannon, Justin, Elora, Atlas,
Liam and most of all Sunny ☀️
