Help Fund Mosaic's After School Program

Mosaic Community Development Center (MCDC) is a non-profit that grew out of Mosaic Community Church in 2020. MCDC's mission is to empower and elevate a generation of leaders from youth through adulthood, instilling a desire to serve, a commitment to and a love for the Jeannette community. Downtown Jeannette, where Mosaic is located, has a median household income of $26,000 per year. To put this into perspective, the median household for the entirety of Jeannette is $43,000 and for the state of Pennsylvania, $67,000. All of Jeannette School District students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. In 2021, twenty-five percent of Jeannette students scored proficient in Math, 13% under the state average. Forty-seven percent of Jeannette students scored proficient in Language Arts, 8% under the state average. Education provides hope, and without specific support systems in place, children lose that hope.

MCDC is committed to helping raise up the next generation of leaders in the Jeannette community through education, workforce development and character education. In 2023, Mosaic has already seen over 70 elementary students come through their doors for either their after school or summer career exploration programs. From when the students started their program to when they finished, the students' average ELA grades improved by 5% and the student's average Math grades increased by 4%. In addition to homework help, students are provided with social-emotional learning, crafts, STEM activities, snack, dinner and more. Transportation is also provided to and from the program if needed. Though their focus is on children and youth, they seek to holistically help families in this process as well. They do this through relationships and mentors.

MCDC is looking to raise $35,000 for their 2023-24 after school program. Will you consider giving to this program, allowing MCDC to support their students four days a week, three hours a day this coming year? Will you provide a safe, supportive and caring space for the youth in the Jeannette community to grow and learn in for 12 hours a week? Their program has proven successful and they desire to continue building into the lives of the youth in their community. MCDC believes in the children and see the talents, passions and potential to lead the next generation of Jeannette with justice, grace and honor.
