We would be honored if you would support us as we look to raise $15,000 to cover the cost of collecting, storing, and shipping over 5,000 books in our first year. But we cannot do it without the support of you and the support of our community.

We are proud to announce the inaugural fundraiser for X Books - a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to getting books to the incarcerated population in Georgia and advocacy for these marginalized communities. This is an immediate problem; as of today, there are multiple prisons in GA with fewer than three books per inmate, with limited funds to help solve this problem at the state government level. While there are various amazing groups across the country doing this kind of work, we are proud to say that we are the only group native to GA working to fill this gap.
Over the course of 2020, X Books has diligently collected books but due to COVID we have been unable to get the books in the hands of the incarcerated. As of today, we have approximately 5,000 books in storage and ready to be sent. We are hoping to raise $15,000 through our first fundraiser so that we can start to deliver these books!
The money raised will go primarily to delivering books directly to incarcerated people - we expect it to cost $5-8 per package of three books. Additional funds raised will go to buying more books in underrepresented genres like trade books, paying business and legal expenses, printing marketing materials and merchandise, and covering our storage fees. We will always be transparent about our expenses and will take great care in managing our resources to help as many people as we can.
Our board is made up of nonprofit leaders in the Atlanta area, members of local government, as well as creatives to help us derive the wide range of skills on bringing our ideas to reality. We are honored to follow in the footsteps of so many people doing the work to help those communities in our country that are overlooked and underserved.
