URGENT help needed for homeless woman and 4 children - one with Down Syndrome and another on the Autism spectrum!
We met Wyketa at the Valero gas station on Alameda and 4th near Skid Row in Downtown LA this Sunday afternoon. She asked for gas money from her vehicle through our window.
When we walked to her car with two $1 bills we noticed that she had 4 young children with her.
She broke down in tears and explained that she had been sleeping in her car with her kids outside Fred Jordan's Mission for the past 2 nights.

Here is a video that Wyketa made of her children's journey 4 years ago. They were a happy family. Her husband and her eldest son passed away. They fell on hard times and are the most deserving of our love.
Having driven to Los Angeles from Ohio, they were staying in a motel at first but ran out of money and the shelters all across Los Angeles County are too full to take them in.
We paid for her gas and learned that she has a Section 8 housing voucher but hasn't had access to internet to find a home for her and her children nor a safe place to stay in the interim.
Her children are between the ages of 4 and 13. One of her youngest has Down Syndrome and the other is Non-Verbal Autistic. Her eldest daughter has not been able to log on to attend the online school she is registered at.
She is scared and incredibly sad.
Our hearts break for her dire situation and want to help her GET SHELTER NOW and find permanent housing that will work with her Section 8 voucher.
We are raising money so she can afford temporary housing and possibly a deposit/rent on a home. Please contribute what you can to help her get back on her feet!
We are hoping to bring her some groceries and clothing this week if you are based near Downtown Los Angeles and would like to contribute goods to her family as well.
