Food for our community

**UPDATE. #2*** WOW! Thank you all SO much!! As we assess the needs of our patients and their families, and the safety of our staff we are continuing to speak to our patients via phone and telehealth visits. At that time we arrange for them to receive a food delivery OR a gift card so they can purchase their own food (Giant or Walmart).
** UPDATE*** Thank you for this outpouring of support to feed our local communities! I am going to begin transferring funds so we can begin to purchase food and gift cards!
Mason and Partners Clinic is a nurse led initiative that is part of George Mason University School of Nursing. We have 13 clinics that serve the uninsured and poor of Northern Virginia. We made the very difficulty decision to close the majority of our clinics during the COVID 19 pandemic. In additional to medical services, we provide our patients with food and mental health services.
The recent COVID 19 pandemic has left many families our Mason and Partners Clinic community serves in need of food for their families.
We held a fundraiser in December which was very successful, but we have recently had an increase in need for food in the various communities we serve (Culmore, Springfield and Manassas Park), as hourly wage employees are losing their only source of income.
Funds collected will be used to purchase gift cards to grocery stores as well as food for those who are unable to leave their homes due to risk factors that make them high risk for COVID 19.
If you prefer to donate items instead of money, below is a list of items that are needed:
Food Items Needed:
Maseca
Rice (regular bag rice)
Black Beans (canned or bag)
